Dental sandblasting procedure

Teeth sandblasting procedure is used for removing surface stains, plaque, and tartar from the surface of the teeth. During the procedure, the dentist uses a special instrument that expels a mixture of air, water and fine abrasive particles (most often sodium bicarbonate).

This jet removes surface stains, plaque and soft deposits that cannot be entirely removed during regular toothbrushing. Besides teeth sandblasting, a separate dental procedure is tartar cleaning.

Usually, tartar cleaning and teeth sandblasting are applied together for optimal oral health.

Tartar cleaning is a procedure that removes hard tartar (calculus) formed on teeth and beneath the gum. Tartar cannot be removed with regular brushing or flossing, so the dentist uses special instruments such as ultrasonic scalers.
